Sunset Grill at Little Harbor is one of the best places to sit along the shores of Tampa Bay and joy a beautiful sunset. Sit outside at the Tiki Bar and enjoy your favorite drink while watching the sun disappear. The food is great and the service is excellent! They serve an amazing Sunday Brunch from 8:00am-2:30pm, so start your day-by-the-bay! Send me your email address for a 10% coupon off a table for four, from Feb. 1, 2019 through Feb. 28, 2019. The Blu Mangrove is one of my favorite places to sit on the outside patio with friends while enjoying a warm Florida afternoon. The Marina sits on the Manatee River and you can come by land or water, as dockside parking is available. Happy Hour is everyday starting at 11am ’til 6pm.
A favorite appetizer for me is the Ahi Tuna Wonton cups! The wonton cups are filled with seaweed salad, ahi tuna and topped with ginger and wasabi. 3 cups will run about $14.00.
Add an order of Doc’s Fish spread with tortilla chips for $10.00 and you have a meal!
Dinners are a little pricey, however; the presentation and taste are exquisite!
Have fun in the sun in Florida and visit these great hidden gems! Blu Mangrove is located at 102 Riviera Way, Palmetto, Fl. 34221, in the Riviera Dunes Marina.
Five friends on an adventure for the day is what we were yesterday heading to Punta Gorda. Two of us are originally from Maryland, so we were ready for some Steamed Blue Crabs, Maryland style! And we definitely found them at Peace River Seafood on Rte 17 just outside the town of Punta Gorda. If you want fresh fish, shrimp and crabs stop in their Seafood Market and take some home! After filling up on crabs, corn and potatoes, we headed off to Fisherman’s Village. Loads of shopping, laughing, live music in the courtyard and ending our day with an adult beverage at Smuggler’s (located at the end of Fisherman’s Village on the Port Charlotte Bay). A wonderful and memorable day with lots of fun!
Being a native Marylander I am always looking for fresh seafood restaurants. The Sea Hut now called Crab Trap located in Palmetto has just what I like. Their family recipes originated from the Chesapeake Bay area in Maryland and the Crab Salad is full of lump blue crab! The atmosphere is that of Old Florida which is another favorite of mine. Prices are reasonable and the staff is friendly. Easy to find, just off Hwy 19 and lots of parking. The bar overlooks the water and they have a comfortable sitting area should you have to wait for a table. They also have a small outdoor area to sit and enjoy a cocktail before dinner. A nice place to bring friends and family for lunch or dinner.
When the temperature outside is 80 degrees in December, we head to Tampa’s Riverwalk to get in the Christmas mood! The Riverwalk was amazing last night with all the lights reflecting off the water. The Riverwalk extends 2.4 miles along the Hillsborough River and the Tampa Arts District. A great way to work off those extra pounds from all the holiday parties!
This is how we spend an evening in Florida! Outdoor seating with a fire pit in the center of the table to take the ‘chill’ off, at Mattison’s City Grille. Great food, reasonable prices and the tropical drinks aren’t bad either! After dinner we strolled down to the Riverwalk to listen to the Blues Festival which began Friday evening and went on through the weekend. A lot of folks were ‘Out and About’!
We had a fantastic day, yesterday, at the Swordfish Grill andTiki Bar in Cortez, Florida. It was the venue for the 6th annual Stone Crab Festival. The Swordfish grill has live music 7 days a week on the deck outside overlooking the Sarasota Bay, which is the place you want to be for epic sunsets! It’s located in the historic Fishing Village of Cortez where you can also purchase fresh seafood. Very casual atmosphere, “a mix of Old Florida and the Freshest Local Seafood” as their ads say. The Seared Ahi Tuna and seaweed salad is one of my favorites! This is definitely on my list of ‘best places to go’ in Southwest Florida.
Below is a short video from the outside deck. The address for the Swordfish Grill is 4628 119th St W, Cortez, Florida 34215, just before crossing over the bridge into Anna Maria Island.
A fun afternoon in Myakka River State Park. Ride on one of the two largest covered air boats, the “Myakka Maiden,” or the “Gator Gal“. We chose the Gator Gal to see hundreds of alligators lying along the shore. These air-powered vessels venture into the shallow, grassy areas where traditional boats wouldn’t dare to go. The Winter Session for tours go from Dec. 16th to May 31st each year, with the busiest time of year being the Winter. Tickets are sold for same-day tours starting at 9am. They don’t sell ahead of time and you should arrive early for parking. Children 5 yrs & under – free; Adults-13 years & Older $14.00 plus tax and children 6-12 years $7.00 plus tax. They also have eco tram tours. They also have a snack bar and gift shop.
And, yes we did see loads of alligators on the shore and in the water swimming around the boat! Definitely worth the trip.
You won’t want to miss this one! Right on the Riverwalk overlooking the Manatee River….save the date Dec. 1-3, 2017. The weather in Florida this time of year is perfect for a weekend outside full of fun! I’ll see you at Mattison’s for their “Blues Brunch” on Sunday, Dec. 3, 2017.
